Why I love rainy days?

Gray, cool, misty, wet - Rainy days may not be vibrant and may not have the same enjoyments as sunny days, but I think rainy days have a lot to offer.
If you are always comparing rainy days to sunny days you are setting yourself up for disappointment.  But if you can see the little gifts that rainy days bring, you can enjoy both for what they are.
Today is a rainy day and I am not about to let that ruin my day, instead I am blogging about my favourite things rainy days have to offer..
1. RAIN BOOTS - I love every style of boot out there but I would have to say rain boots are the most fun to throw on and rainy days give us an excuse to wear them.  You can make any outfit look cute, flirty, and fun just by throwing on a pair of rain boots over skinny jeans, tights, or pairing with a cute dress.  Next time it rains, put a cute outfit together with a pair of rain boots and start jumping in puddles... Be a kid again!

2. MOVIES - Every time it rains, how many people do you hear say, "I wish I was at home in bed watching movies on a day like today?".  If that is what you wish for, then make that wish come true.  When you get home from school or work or wherever you are, throw on some comfy's and cuddle up in bed or on the couch and watch all your old favourite movies.  Rainy days are the days I like to watch my "comfort" movies.  The movies that I can watch over and over again and never get sick of.  Currently I am watching Because I Said So and after that I plan to watch Love Actually... I LOVE MOVIES and rainy days makes me enjoy them all over again.

3. COMFY CLOTHES - Jogging pants, oversized hoodies, slippers, and my hair in a bun :)  I couldn't be happier wearing my sweats.  Dressing up is always fun, but dressing down is even better.  Now we don't have to go looking like slobs but this is an opportunity to relax and feel completely at ease.  Rainy days usually keep us indoors and most of the time we would rather stay at home then get dressed up and go out, therefore, rainy days make the perfect opportunity to bring out the sweats!

4. PITTER PATTER-  The sound of rain is one of my absolute favourite sounds in the whole wide world.  Light rain, hard rain, big drops, small drops - Every drop makes a unique sound and is music to my ears especially when I am lying in bed ready to fall asleep.  This sound is so relaxing and comforting to me that I wish I could hear it every night, but then again, it wouldn't be so special if I did.

5. BOOKS - Who doesn't love to curl up with a good book?  I read every day and absolutely love escaping into the pages.  But I feel that when I am forced indoors and am listening to the rain pitter patter outside, my imagination seems that much more elaborate.  I can usually finish a book in one sitting on a rainy day.  I let the book take over my mind and at that moment I feel the world slip away as I become engrossed in the story.  Nicholas Sparks is a great author who writes love stories that have a twist.  He is probably my favourite rainy day author.  His books are easy to read and provide so much detail it is easy to escape in his writing and actually place yourself in the main character's shoes.  Safe Haven is one of his books that I just finished.  Great love story but also a thriller - Perfect book for a rainy day!

6. RAINBOWS -  Rainbows wouldn't exist if we didn't have rainy days, hence the "rain" in rainbows.  These beautiful illusions are only possibly with moisture and sunshine.  We usually see a rainbow after the rain has stopped and the clouds have parted to let the sun shine through.  The old folk tale tells us that there is a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.  Although this may not be entirely true, rainy days do make us dream big and rainbows help us believe our dreams really can come true. :)

This is just a short list of why I love rainy days.  So next time the clouds roll in and the rain drops start to fall, do something you love!  Stay in or maybe even get a little wet.  What fun is life, if you don't make the best of each and every day!

Sex and the City... Sarnia style!

Carrie Bradshaw and the girls of Sex and the City knew how to do it right when it came to a good girls night.  My friends and I try to have at least one of these nights a week. I know that when it comes to the chaos of our daily lives, you can always count on your girlfriends to help take your mind off things. Girl’s night is the chance to ditch the “to do’s”, leave the man to bond with the remote control, and let our hair down.  These nights could involve dressing up and going out on the town, or dressing down and curling up to a good movie and a TON of junk food.  Either or, as long as you are with some good girlfriends, the night will be a success!

This past Friday my girlfriends are I decided for a night out to celebrate my older sisters birthday.  We chose to dress up and go for drinks at a chic new bar in Sarnia called Zebra Bar.  Zebra Bar had all the elements to make for a great girls night out.  We drank martini's, bottles of wine and had a number of delicious appetizers.  We drank, we talked, we laughed!  Our table of 6 doubled before the end of the night and we continued to enjoy each others company.  We chatted about relationships, gossip, new movies, old friends, food, wine, clothing, etc.. No matter what stress we had going on in our daily lives, we put that aside and just enjoyed being with our friends.

I believe everyone needs a good group of girlfriends.  Even if that group consists of you and one person.  Every girl needs to vent and that is what friends are for.  As we get older, our friends marry, move away and have children.  Life sometimes gets in the way of us having fun.  But believe me, if you can set aside one evening a week or a month to spend with your girlfriends, life will be that much more enjoyable!

"Maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people to have fun with."

Who knew sweating could feel so good?

I recently joined a new gym called Agoya Fitness Studio (agoyafitness.com) and I LOVE it!  Working out has always been a passion of mine.  I love the feeling I get after getting my ass kicked in a boot camp or sweating my butt off in a hot yoga class.  In the past, I have let life get in the way of working out and never could find enough time to do it (so I said...).  But this summer I really have tried committing fully.  I joined this gym because they offer over 50 classes a week that fit into anybody's schedule.  I can go before work, on lunch, or after I am done work for the day.

Hot yoga would have to be my new favourite class.  I had done a hot class years ago but since joining this gym, I try to go at least twice a week.  The classroom's temperature is set at 104 degrees and lasts about an hour.  The heat helps you flow from pose to pose and also aids in flexibility.  When I leave the class I look like a drowned rat but I feel AMAZING.  I feel cleansed and relaxed mind, body and soul.  I highly recommend everyone trying hot yoga at least once.  It is definitely not for everyone but one class will help you determine that.  If you do try one of these classes, make sure to bring a towel and a bottle of water... you will need it!

Favourite item in my closet?

My absolute favourite item in my closet would have to be my cowboy boots.  Cowboy boots can be worn with just about anything.  I sport my boots with jeans, leggings, shorts, dresses and skirts.  I am definitely a country girl at heart and this may be why I always turn to my boots when getting ready for the day or even a night out.  I find them comfortable and fun.  Let me know what you think?

Welcome!!

I started blogging years ago but never really stuck with it.  I think because I tried to narrow down to one topic to blog about and my life is really about many topics.  Therefore, this blog is all about my love for life.  I love fashion, interior design, fitness, food, travel, wine, friends, creativity, etc...  I will blog about the things I love and things I could live without... We all have one life to live.  So instead of dreaming, start living.  Life is what you make of it so why not have a ball!
